January Alumni Voices

I was empowered to be bold in my faith and confidently serve Jesus. Stockdale Christian helped me see what serving the Lord looked like, and I felt encouraged to live out my faith.

I left SCS with a solid understanding and foundation of biblical principles that I carried with me through high school, college, and adulthood.  I had several professors in college that challenged my worldview, but I remained unshaken because of the truth that was taught at SCS.

Meet Courtney McCorkle

SCS Class of 1995

Courtney McCorkle graduated from Stockdale Christian in 1995. She majored in Elementary Education at Cedarville University and received her Masters at Walden University. She returned to SCS at the age of 21 to teach 3rd grade. In 2016, Courtney became the founding charter petitioner of Heartland Charter School. Courtney is now the Executive Director of Heartland Charter School. She is also happily married to her high school sweetheart and homeschools all five of their children.

Q&A with Courtney:

What is your favorite memory of SCS

“My favorite memory at SCS is when I came back as a teacher and taught with the teachers who had poured into me as a student. I am also thankful for the lifelong friendships I made while attending SCS.”

how did the education you received at SCS prepare you for Success?

“SCS gave me a strong biblical foundation as I moved on to high school. I was ready to attend public high school and share my faith with my friends and community. Sword drills are a fun memory of how I became very comfortable with my Bible. The Bible memory verses I learned for those eight years have been hidden in my heart, and the Lord brings those verses to my mind during the most impactful moments of my life.”

Q&A with Whitney:

What is your favorite memory of SCS

“My favorite memory at Stockdale Christian was being in Mrs. Picking’s 4th grade class. She is an incredible teacher who places Christ at the center of education, sets high academic standards, and makes learning an exciting experience. The best part of the year was our overnight field trip to Mariposa where we mined for gold. Mrs. Picking still teaches 4th grade at SCS and it was so incredibly special to me that both of my kids had her as their 4th grade teacher.”

how did the education you received at SCS prepare you for Success?

“The main reason that my husband and I wanted our kids to attend Stockdale Christian is the school’s commitment to objective truth. We knew that the truth, whether in Bible, Science, or History, would not be twisted or recreated to fit an agenda. As a student at Stockdale Christian, I experienced first hand the benefits of receiving a biblical education centered on truth.”
