Music
welcome to SCS music!
Stockdale Christian School has always placed an emphasis on music, and our Music Department has become a legacy with many different programs!
The Bible places a strong emphasis on music, and we apply these Biblical principles throughout our music curriculum and instruction. God inhabits the praise of His people, and our students learn how to effectively express themselves with confidence to the Lord with music and song.
About Our Program
Students in Grades K-5 participate in music on a weekly basis. With the exception of Kindergarten classes which meet once a week, all elementary classes meet twice a week for 30-40 minutes.
Using Bob Jones University Press curriculum, students are taught music theory & music appreciation and are introduced to each family of instruments in the orchestra. A wide variety of classroom activities includes reading and writing music, singing, movement and playing simple rhythm or melody instruments. Top-notch musical programs are the highlight of each season at SCS. Grades K-3 and Grades 4-5 treat family and friends to entertaining Christmas Concerts and Spring Concerts each year.
Praise Him with the blast of trumpets high into the heavens, and praise Him with harps and lyres and the rhythm
of the tambourines skillfully played by those who love and fear the Eternal.
Praise Him with singing and dancing; praise Him with flutes and strings of all kinds!
Praise Him with crashing cymbals, loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
–Psalm 150:3-6 (The Voice, NLT)
