Music has always been a cornerstone of life at Stockdale Christian School. Over the years, our Music Department has grown into a vibrant tradition, offering programs that inspire students to explore, create, and shine through music.
Rooted in Biblical principles, our curriculum teaches that God inhabits the praise of His people. Students learn to express themselves confidently through song and music, growing both in skill and in their relationship with the Lord.
About Our Program
Music comes alive at SCS! Every student in grades K–5 participates in exciting, hands-on music classes each week. Kindergarten meets once a week, while grades 1–5 dive in twice a week for 30–40 minutes of creativity, movement, and musical discovery.
Using the Bob Jones University Press curriculum, students explore music theory, learn to appreciate a wide range of musical styles, and get to know each family of orchestral instruments. From reading and writing music to singing, dancing, and playing rhythm and melody instruments, our classes are designed to spark curiosity and build confidence.
Our concerts are a beloved SCS tradition! Students in grades K–3 and grades 4–5 take the stage each Christmas and spring, delivering joyful, high-energy performances that inspire parents, family, and friends. These events shine a spotlight on students’ hard work, growing talent, and love for music.
Band Programs
Beginning Band – A fun, hands-on introduction to band instruments that focuses on building essential skills and a strong musical foundation.
Concert Band – A performance-focused ensemble where students actively make music together. Concert Band members also have the chance to audition for local and state honor bands and orchestras.
Jazz Band – A lively, performance-based group that explores the excitement of jazz, giving students practical experience in ensemble playing and improvisation.
Private Music Lessons
Take your musical skills to the next level! SCS offers private vocal and instrumental lessons for students who want personalized instruction and focused skill-building.

Middle School Praise Band
The SCS Middle School Praise Band is dedicated to bringing glory to God through music, both on and off the stage. The band leads worship each week during Middle School chapel and sets a positive example across campus by encouraging leadership, responsibility, and good choices.
Rehearsals take place twice a week for 45 minutes, and membership is by audition. Students must maintain a passing GPA and foster a positive, encouraging environment for their peers. The ensemble changes each year based on auditions and includes vocalists and instrumentalists—guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums.
Through their music and example, Praise Band members grow as leaders, musicians, and role models, creating a vibrant, Christ-centered community at SCS.
SCS Piano Studio
Take your music skills to the next level with weekly 45-minute private lessons at Stockdale Christian School’s Piano Studio, led by Alena Baker. Our sessions give students K–8 the time to grow in rhythm, technique, ear training, improvisation, composition, and more—tailored to each student’s unique interests and favorite genres, from classical to worship music.
Our students shine on stage in two annual recitals, plus fun events like lunch recitals, field trips, competitions, and more.
